The Bay Area is probably one of the major destinations that tourists from all over the world want to see when they make a trip through the United States, with San Francisco being the first thing people usually connect to the region. The city has been the set for various Hollywood movies so there are a few places that you might already have seen. But what are the best things to do in San Francisco? This probably the first question you will ask yourself right after purchasing a plane ticket for your next trip to the French capital.

When going to a unique city like San Francisco, you surely want to get most out of your stay even though most travellers only stay there for a short period. In order to do so, you should plan ahead to avoid losing direction and to make sure that you really see the best things in the city – so check our guide to all the best things to do in San Francisco!

The best places to visit when in San Francisco

1. Alcatraz

A visit to the legendary prison island Alcatraz, the scene of exciting Hollywood films and today a museum, is definitely worthwhile. The crossing by boat takes about 20 minutes and is a highlight in itself because of the great view to the skyline and the Golden Gate Bridge. On the island you can move around freely and take an audio tour through the cells where gangsters like Al Capone or Machine Gun Kelly were imprisoned. Make sure to reserve in advance! If you don’t order the tickets at least one week ahead, you won’t have a chance to be taken by boat to the island – unless you queue up for tickets in the middle of the night. But it´s for sure one of the best things to do in San Francisco.

2. Golden Gate Bridge

The Golden Gate Bridge is almost like the Berlin TV Tower: you can see it from almost every point in the city, and there are seemingly endless good spots for taking photos.

In the following places the bridge shows its best side:

  • Battery Spencer: The former military post is located on the opposite side of the bridge. From there you can take a picture of the typical postcard motif so often seen from the Golden Gate Bridge – with the skyline of San Francisco in the background.
  • Baker Beach: Those who want to hide the city on pictures will find the Baker Beach in Presidio exactly right. The beach is surrounded by cliffs and offers a beautiful scenery especially at sunset.
  • Fort Point: This vantage point is located at the southern end of the Golden Gate Bridge. On the area of the fortress from the time of the American civil war one comes closest to the bridge.
  • Alcatraz: You can also see the bridge in all its beauty from the prison island Alcatraz located in the east. Mission District

3. Mission District

One of the coolest neighborhoods in San Francisco is the Mission District in the western part of downtown, named after the Mission Dolores, the oldest surviving building in San Francisco. The Latino neighborhood is known for its street art, graffiti and murals, most of which can be found in Balmy Street, Clarion Alley and 18th Street. Here stands the famous Woman’s Building, a house painted from top to bottom. It shows famous women of different skin colours who have worked for world peace. The Mission District also boasts many cafes and the city’s supposedly best Mexican restaurants.

4. Painted Ladies

The Victorian wooden houses shaped the architectural style of the city for more than six decades. The relatively narrow wooden houses are characterised by their turrets, arches, squiggles and, above all, their splendour of colour. Hence the name Painted Ladies. Although many wooden houses did not survive the great fire of 1906 and other events, they still characterise some districts today. Alamo Square is also home to the most frequently photographed Painted Ladies.

5. Cable Cars

Since 1873, the historic tram has been clattering through the city centre at 15 kilometres per hour. Of course, you can also board the tram yourself and let yourself be driven up and down the hills. But quite honestly: the 5 dollars (4,50 Euro) per route as well as a waiting time of up to 30 minutes in order to get a place in the line 60 that is most popular with tourists are not really worth the effort. In any case, the historic wagons are the most beautiful to look at from the outside and make a great photo. The Cable Cars, which have been a national monument of the USA since 1964, even have their own museum.

6. Angel Island

Everyone goes to Alcatraz – but another island in the bay of San Francisco is definitely worth a visit: Angel Island. From there you also have a fantastic view of the skyline of the city, and the Golden Gate Bridge can be photographed with Alcatraz in front of it. From San Francisco there are daily ferries to Angel Island and on the island itself there is the possibility to rent bicycles. After reaching the highest point, the 240 meters high Mount Livermore, the view is even more magnificent.

7. Chinatown

Culinary highlights of a completely different kind can be found in Chinatown, one of the largest of its kind in the USA. Almost only Cantonese and Mandarin are spoken and cooked here. About 80,000 people live in the quarter, which is characterized by Chinese architecture and decoration. The district was established as early as 1850, and you can actually experience a bit of real China here. This is definitely one of the best things to do in San Francisco!

8. Fisherman’s Wharf

In the northeast of San Francisco you will find the district Fisherman’s Wharf, where many tourist attractions are offered. Therefore, Fisherman’s Wharf is a good starting point to experience and discover San Francisco. The fact that Fisherman’s Wharf used to be a pier for fishing boats and a place for fish handling can still be seen today in the countless restaurants with delicious fish dishes and in the construction of the houses, especially at pier 39.

9. Downtown

Downtown San Francisco basically consists of the Civic Center, Financial District and Tenderloin neighborhoods. It is very lively and every corner has its own metropolitan charm – each with its own different people and life stories. Architectural highlights include the Ferry Building, City Hall and Transamerica Pyramid.

10. Golden Gate Park

The Golden Gate Park is located in the northwest of the city and stretches over a length of 5km. Many attractions and scenic attractions make the Golden Gate Park one of the most popular parks in the USA – for example to relax from stress or to do sports. Among the most important attractions are the various museums and botanical gardens.
What to expect from your trip to San Francisco
Rest assured that even if you only check half of our recommendations, you will get a lot of great things to see. The city life can be explored best when going around and interacting with locals, so be curious and open-minded and you will get the same back! There are for sure even more things to explore but with these best things to do in San Francisco you can already plan your trip well.

London is one of the busiest cities in the world and most people find that you could easily spend a week or two there and still discover interesting spots due to its richness in history, museums and night clubs. However, the city’s surroundings should not be disregarded as they can offer you a pleasant variety of activities that differ from the megacity life. If you have a few spare hours and think about suitable day trips from London, you should definitely consider some of our selected destinations:

City of Bath

Anyone who has some interest in the Roman Empire should definitely see Bath, which is famous for its Roman baths. Thus, it has also been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The Romans who lived there in the past built their legendary baths directly at the hot springs of the town, so it is not surprising that Bath developed more and more into a health resort in the course of time. Today, it is mostly tourists who relax here but we think it is definitely worth seeing and one of the best day trips from London.

Windsor Castle

Windsor Castle is an imposing and at the same time the largest castle in the world that is still inhabited. Queen Elizabeth II officially resides in the 900 year old castle, but Windsor Castle is mainly used for weekend stays of the royal family. Especially for royal fans this is therefore a must do when you are in London.

Besides the castle itself, the St George’s Chapel and the changing of the guard are things you should see. The Chapel is one of the most impressive buildings in the UK and allegedly 10 monarchs were buried there. A further highlight is the traditional military changing of the guard, which starts at 11:00 a.m. and lasts 30 minutes. Once you are in Windsor, you can also visit the famous Eton College elite school just 800 metres from the castle where many famous British people such as Prince William and Harry went to school.

Oxford

Oxford’s historic colleges, bridges, libraries and gardens are the perfect way for the Londoner to get some rest from the busy big city life. The university city has experienced a veritable rush of visitors through the Harry Potter films and offers a wide variety of guided tours, which you should definitely take if you have enough time. An absolute must for Harry Potter fans is of course the canteen in Christ Church College, which was used in the films as the dining hall of Hogwarts. On a tour of the college, you’ll learn about the other locations in the college where the Harry Potter movies were shot.

Brighton

Brighton is particularly popular for its relaxed atmosphere and beach which is why even locals consider this one of the best day trips from London. When the weather is good, Londoners stream to Brighton Beach and let the sun shine on their belly.

But be careful: a day trip to Brighton makes you want more, because the place is not boring at all. Next to the beach there is the Brighton Pier where you can find a small fair with carousels and food stalls all year round. In the city there are also many historical buildings like the Royal Pavilion and several churches. Brighton is also the gay metropolis of England and has many gay-friendly hostels, bars and nightclubs.

Whether you have already seen most parts of the British capital or have not even booked your tickets yet, the city’s direct environment offers many opportunities for day trips from London. Most travelers do not have too much time but if you get up early, seeing some of the introduced places is definitely something you should write on your list for the United Kingdom!

Sometimes we have lots of time and want to go somewhere but none of our friends can join. Is that a reason to not go to your favorite travel destination? Certainly not – solo travels are a great way to spend a vacation and probably it is more relaxing anyway if you follow your own schedule. Especially in Italy you will find a variety of things to do by yourself, so do not be scared of booking your flight tickets to this southern European country! We show you the best destinations when traveling to Italy alone.

1. Rome

The Italian capital is a perfect place to start your journey when traveling to Italy alone. With its historic importance in entire Europe and fascinating architectures that are partially still around, Rome won’t let you go unimpressed. You might have heard that Rome is not a safe place to be by yourself and in fact there is a lot of pick pockets going around the touristy places, looking for some unwary travelers. However, you can greatly reduce the risk of being robbed by just watching your valuables. The robberies mostly take place during the daytime and without anyone noticing, so if you get an extra belt bag for your belongings you can most likely enjoy the beautiful city of Rome by yourself. Make sure to visit one of the famous Roman baths in town to feel what people thousands of years ago felt.

2. Bologna

If you are traveling to Italy alone, the city of Bologna in the north of Italy could be a great destination to visit. It kind of has a big city life combined with ancient and originally Italian elements where it is easy to meet new people. Actually there are many travelers from all over the world who also do not know anyone in town. Joining a walking tour around the famous sights of Piazza Maggiore or St. Stephen Basilica is therefore a good way to both explore the place and also meet some new friends.

3. Venice

Going to Venice by yourself? You might ask yourself why we put Venice on the best destinations when traveling to Italy alone since it is mostly renowned as a city for couples. From our own experience, Venice is a very beautiful city but quite overrated for any stay longer than 2 days – perfect for a short solo stay! The little pathways with hundreds of bridges that help pedestrians cross the old canals are in fact worth exploring and at times you really feel like in a movie. The scenery is so beautiful that there are even casinos which copied the design of the city and built “Venice Worlds” inside of huge buildings. For a 1- or 2-day stay, Venice is a great solo travel destination in Italy and being on your own can be very useful especially in crowded places. It is much easier to find your way through thousands of people if you do not always have to look for your friends or partner and also, you can try all the delicious foods you want such as the famous local crepes.

4. Cinque Terre

Along the Italian coast in Liguria, there are five lovely fishermen’s villages that are named “Cinque Terre”. Easily accessible by public transport, this place is attracting more and more travelers due to its unique location and views as well as the original Italian lifestyle. For solo travelers, it makes sense to plan at least 2-3 days here since there is plenty to explore and do. Each fishermen’s village basically has its own character so you could already spend a lot of time on getting to know them. Even more intriguing for a day trip are the hiking trails around the villages that give you some of the most beautiful views you could get on Italy’s coasts – and probably those are also quite enjoyable if you are just by yourself.

5. Florence

When traveling to Italy alone, Florence is a very suitable destination with its amazing cityscape and truly Italian atmosphere often even called the gem of Tuscany. Due to its attractiveness to tourists, there are plenty of hostels available here and it is a good idea to make use of that whenever you can find it in Italy. Not only do the local hostels provide you with valuable information about good places in English (which is sometimes rare to find in Italy), but also it is much easier to connect with new people if you want to explore the city with someone else. With lots of exchange students and expats living in Florence, you will also easily connect to people in the local bar scene. Especially during the night time you might get feel like a few hundred years back in time in the traditional narrow streets – but still it is quite a safe place to be by yourself.

6. Siena

A perfect little Italian city to explore by foot, Siena has some amazing foods, stunning architectures and – some say – the most friendly Italians you could find. Even though most of them do not speak English, you will not get lost here as the inhabitants of Siena are happy about people from other countries showing interest in their place. It is quite easy to get around the city and even without Italian skills you should not have a problem navigating if you have a map with you. Maybe you will not be socializing as much here as in other bigger cities, but the cultural experience you can make here is definitely worth it and maybe even better if you just visit by yourself.

7. Amalfi Coast

Similar to Cinque Terre, the Amalfi Coast close to Naples features multiple small villages directly at the sea in the Italian south. Thousands of Instagram photos have been posted from places such as Positano or Capri Island and you do not have to worry that reality wouldn’t match the beauty from pictures. If you are looking for a relaxing getaway just for yourself, the Amalfi Coast is a great place to be when traveling to Italy alone, and hopefully you got some inspiration for your next solo trip!

When going to Europe, most people immediately think of visiting France or the United Kingdom – but in fact, Germany is a fascinating country to see and you could easily spend a few weeks here. Over the last years it has greatly gained in popularity, but its best spots are still not very well-known among travelers. Get your backpack ready as we show you the best places to visit in Germany!

1. German North Sea

You might not expect Germany to be a beach paradise but in fact it has some lovely places directly at the sea. At its northern borders, the North Sea is one of the best places to visit in Germany with places such as Sylt and Norderney that do what they promise: giving you a very northern experience! Besides the relaxing atmosphere with long beaches and salty air that is really refreshing, there are lots of activities you can do here in nature, such as walking across the mudflats. Also, the local governments understand what kinds of gems they have and strictly prohibit the usage of cars in most areas.

2. Berlin

Graffiti on the Berlin Wall

The first city among the best places to visit in Germany, Berlin definitely deserves a prominent spot. Anyone visiting Germany should at least spend a day or two in the capital which has evolved into a highly multicultural place with many different individual lifestyles over the past decades. A special thing in Berlin is that there is not a typical “Berlin person” but rather each district has its very own unique character and basically everyone can find its place somewhere. Besides the historic side and many architectural monuments that also stem from the political standing Berlin has, the city is also famous for its nightlife and music scene.

3. German Baltic Sea

Whether you just want to spend a few days here or do a full vacation: The German Baltic Sea has a lot of islands where you can have a relaxing time that are a bit different from the ones you find at the North Sea. A famous spot is Rügen which features some of the most beautiful sandy beaches in the region as well as national parks and the fascinating natural spot of the “Kreidefelsen”.

4. Hamburg

With one of the largest harbors in Europe, Hamburg is of great economic importance and is generally characterized by its location at the sea. The people kind of have a northern attitude and are extremely friendly, which might be due to the high density of good foods. While you are in Hamburg, definitely try some fish sandwich with fresh food from the sea and also visit the Elbphilharmonie!

5. Saxon Switzerland

In the eastern part of Germany you will find Saxon Switzerland with its stunning rock formations and sceneries as one of the best places to visit in Germany. Whether you are hiking around the area or simply pass by on your road trip, make sure to stop for some time and enjoy the amazing views you can get here on the Bastei Bridge, especially when the sun sets.

6. Munich

The main city of southern Germany has a very own culture and often people say that the whole state of Bavaria is kind of a separate country. Munich is famous for its beer, food and laid back lifestyle with some of the best natural spots of Germany right in front of the door. While living in Munich is relatively expensive, it can be a great place for a few days of vacation and if you are lucky you can even experience the Oktoberfest in the end of September!

7. Allgäu

Close to Munich, the Allgäu region certainly belongs to the best places to visit in Germany. Not only filled with amazing landscapes close to the Alps but also featuring stunning castles and lakes, the area will definitely leave you with good memories. Especially for the nature fans among us, Allgäu is a must see when you are traveling in Germany!

8. Neuschwanstein

Far in the south of Germany you will find the country’s most iconic and popular tourist destination: Neuschwanstein! King Ludwig II created this gem of a castle on top of the mountains, which makes a picture like from a fairytale in any season. However, there is usually a high demand but if you do not mind queuing up for some time to get your tickets, this is one of the best places to visit in Germany – and probably you won’t be able to see something comparable anywhere else.

9. Königssee

If you already made it to the south, stop by Königssee close to the Alps. With the clear waters of the Königssee lake and the mountains in the background, the place is perfect to lie back and relax in a truly natural setting. The natural park around this area is also worth a visit with domestic species that you might not have seen before!

Going somewhere just by yourself is what many people dream of but also something that most people never did before. There are many reasons for this, but safety, planning and the fear of getting lost are some of the most prevalent ones. In fact, there are a lot of things to consider when you go somewhere by yourself compared to traveling with a group but the higher flexibility and individual time on a solo trip really outweigh any drawbacks. We thought about the most important tips for traveling alone and hope you can soon start your own journey!

1. Do Your Research

The first of our tips for traveling alone is a proper preparation of your trip. It can be nice to just go somewhere, wander around and discover some unexpected places – but if that doesn’t work it is good to have a backup and know the most interesting places beforehand. Nothing is worse than flying back home and having regrets about wasting time when you only do your research after you arrived. A proper planning not only saves you time on site, but also it is necessary for countries where visa specifications or vaccination recommendations differ from your home country. With just some hours of time investment you can make your trip much more enjoyable and relaxed.

2. Think About What You Really Need

When you are going somewhere just by yourself, you have a huge advantage: you know what kind of person you are. If you go with friends, you might be going to bars, clubs or art exhibitions and people pack their luggage for all kinds of possible scenarios. Being alone means you can dress as you want and probably know whether you need to suit up during your trip or not. Depending on your destination and itinerary it is also very smart to check whether you need a suitcase or whether a backpack is enough. Taking less with you could mean that you have to do your laundry sometimes but in general it is much more convenient.

3. Learn Basic Words and Phrases

Don’t expect the whole world to speak English. In the West it might work, but the world is much bigger than that! Of course it is not practical to take a 1 year language class for a 2 week trip to Thailand, but knowing some basic words like ‘Hello’, ‘How much’, ‘How to get to …’ and ‘Thanks’ will be both helpful and give you some bonus points with the locals. You can either learn them by heart, get a book with the most important phrases to carry with you or just write them down – either way, this is one of the most important tips for traveling alone.

4. Make a Financial Plan

Before you go anywhere you should get a feeling for the costs you will face. Often people only think of flights and accommodation cost, but over the day there are a lot of cost drivers for every traveler such as local transport, sightseeing or food and fun. Before I went to Japan in 2019, I did cost estimations and even though I did not track my actual spendings daily, the final costs were just 30€ higher than the estimated ones – so calculating a bit in advance is a good thing to not have bad surprises.

5. Get Cash On Site

Another thing to consider when it comes to money is how much you should bring or whether you should get it after you arrived – and this is probably one of the most important tips for traveling alone. In some countries you don’t know how easy it is to get cash or whether cash is actually used frequently. From our own experiences, it works best to bring some emergency money in your own currency, e.g. 200€, that you could exchange on site if you are not able to withdraw any cash in the destination country. However, it is often a bad idea to get the currency of your destination country already in your home country. Many people go to their home banks before their flight and ask for a ton of foreign currency at a bad exchange rate and additional fees. Instead, just get a credit card and withdraw money in your destination country – any airport should have an ATM. Usually the card issuing banks charge some fee or give you a slightly worse exchange rate than the actual one, but still you save a lot of money compared to getting currency at home.

6. Organize Your Belongings

At home you can move freely and most people were never asked for their ID – but when you are an obvious traveler it might happen that police will stop you and ask for your identification. Also in other scenarios, for instance in bars, clubs or hotels, the staff might require your documents. Before you fly to your destination country, think about which documents you will need and how you can always have them together – a belly bag could be a comfortable solution.

7. Pick Your Kind Of Accommodation

Depending on what kind of experience you are seeking, it can be a good idea to book a hostel where you can meet new people if you want, but also it is a place where you don’t want to spend as much time as in a 5 star resort – so more time to explore the surroundings! In some countries you also get really good hotel deals for little money though, so just make up your mind whether it is more of a relaxing and individual time you are seeking or whether you want to socialize and go out all the time. Either way, one of the most important tips for traveling alone is to save the address of your accommodation in the local language in case you get lost or can not get home by yourself anymore. Taxi drivers might not know the English name of the place, and if your phone battery is down, the good old handwritten paper or business card of the property are the most reliable saviors in this situation.

8. Try All the Good Food

If you are totally new to a place and all alone, you might miss the food from home and maybe you really want to try that American restaurant in Bangkok that you saw on TripAdvisor. Good news is that your home food will probably not even taste good in your holiday destination because the ingredients and cooking styles are so different. Use the local food opportunities you have for that limited period because every country has some secret delicacies that you can not try anywhere else. With some dishes it could be a good idea to read about it first, in case you don’t want to end up with food poisoning or in the hospital, but being somewhere by yourself first of all means that you can just taste anything you’d like – so make use of that and explore new horizons of flavor!

9. Be Open-Minded

Going somewhere without prejudices but rather full of curiosity is probably one of the most important tips for traveling alone. During your trip you will have many opportunities to interact with other cultures and see that societies and systems work differently in other places. You will have a lot of time to reflect on your own values and discover a lot of interesting spots on your own schedule – so embrace all the chances that you find on your path.

Europe is on the bucketlist of many travelers and with its many beautiful cities, the continent is a perfect place for solo adventurers. Most European countries have their very own culture, so there is plenty to explore and little room to get bored if you are just by yourself. Most likely, you are not able to see the whole continent at once and it might be difficult to prioritize, so we looked into the best places to travel alone in Europe!

1. Budapest

Today’s capital of Hungary came into place when the cities of Buda, Pest and Óbuda merged, which were only separated by the Danube river. Nowadays, Budapest probably belongs to the most underrated cities in Europe and from a recent trip, we can totally recommend it for both groups and solo travelers. Especially welcoming are the seasons of summer and autumn, when you will find many people on the street enjoying some cold (and cheap!) drinks right at the river. With its many sights such as the Buda Castle, Fisherman’s Bastion and the fun Szechenyi Spa you can easily spend 3 days by yourself in this beautiful city which takes a spot among the best places to travel alone in Europe.

2. Praque

Moving westwards, the city of Prague has been of great historic importance especially during the Middle Ages, and keeps attracting tourists from all over the world. In fact, there is especially a high density of solo travelers pursuing a good time and tasting the vibe of the Czech capital. It is really easy to connect with other locals or tourists and the city is a great mix of nice architecture, very low prices (a beer is often cheaper than Coke) and a fun nightlife.

3. Berlin

Graffiti on the Berlin Wall

If you think about traveling alone in Europe, Berlin is “the place to be” – that’s also how the city is branding itself. The capital of Germany is one of the most diverse places in Europe, with each district having its own atmosphere. Nowadays, Berlin has also developed to a European startup-hub so besides libertines you will also find a lot of people who want to turn ideas into reality and are really eager to meet new people. The city belongs to the biggest ones in Europe and has a very unique history, so you can easily spend a week there, with the nightlife being particularly fun. The bars and clubs probably rank at the top of the European scene and if you think that clubbing alone is not fun, most people lose their friends in there anyway – so just dance the night away!

4. London

The city of London has a long history and nowadays offers a rich mix of culture, business opportunities and fun to people from all over the world. Especially for Asians, London is a popular destination with top universities and English as the official language. When you are traveling alone in Europe and go to London, you might want to pack some comfortable shoes because you can walk A LOT there. Of course, the royal atmosphere can be felt in many places around the city but more than that, traditional sights, parks and theaters make any stay here worthwhile. If you ever get bored by yourself, you can also join a walking tour through London or take a daytrip to the university cities of Cambridge and Oxford!

5. Edinburgh

Still in the United Kingdom, the city of Edinburgh certainly belongs to the best destinations for traveling alone in Europe. If you are lucky, you will only have rain once per day, but the very charming and traditional city scape really makes up for it. Visit the castle and try some haggis if you can, before making your way to Arthur’s seat in the mountainous areas. The wide landscapes are a good getaway from the big city life and are a great opportunity especially for solo travelers to free up your mind.

6. Dublin

Ireland with its capital Dublin and the surrounding areas are a unique combination of great nature, big city vibes and pure Irish culture! It might be a bit colder than in other European cities and also slightly rainy, but a stay of a few days to dive into the city and especially its nightlife is a great thing to do! You might know some Irish pubs in your hometown, but in Dublin’s Temple Bar district it is just another level and really fun if you give it a try. The city has a lot of hostels available, so you can easily meet new people when you are by yourself and they also organize tours to some spectacular trips such as the Wicklow Mountains or the famous Cliffs of Moher, where parts of Harry Potter were shot.

7. Paris

Of course, Paris must not be missing among the best destinations when you are traveling alone in Europe. The city is one of the few really outstanding places on the continent with a turbulent history, beautiful architecture and a very original culture. The number of sights you can find here is countless and spread across the whole city, so you will have no hard time thinking about how you could spend your days just by yourself. Explore Montmartre with the Sacré-Coeur, take a walk along the Seine and relax in the greens around the Eiffel Tower – a perfect place for any solo adventurer!

8. Barcelona

Further in the west of Europe you will find Barcelona at the Mediterranean Sea. Come in summer or autumn and you do not have to worry about not having the best time ever! As a solo traveler, you have the full flexibility of doing whatever you want and that’s especially important in the city of Barcelona with all the great food places. If you felt like it, you could just spend the whole day eating delicious tapas and seafood or wander through the big market hall, but there is also lots of sights to see such as the Sagrada Familia or Parc Güell. As the city is located right at the sea, you can also just relax and enjoy the sun, so make use of your solo situation and just do what you want to in this fun Spanish gem!

Asia has been a popular tourist destination for the last 30 years already. That is not surprising, since the continent extends over roughly 45 million square kilometres. With that much space, there must simply be many beautiful places! You may think that it is mainly backpackers and families who visit Asia, but indeed it is also a fantastic place to visit for couples on their honeymoon. Whether you rather have a beach trip, adventure or pure wellness – Asia got you covered. Let us introduce to you the best honeymoon destinations in Asia!

1. Maldives

Straight away, the Maldives are the most iconic honeymoon destination you could think of. The group of islands is as big as 1200 in the Indian Ocean and offers some of the most close-to-paradise sceneries. You have probably seen the luxury water bungalows built directly into the sea in which you can directly jump from your room into the wet, with white beaches surrounding you. What makes the Maldives an especially suitable destination for honeymoon is that the local hotels have specialized in experiences for couples, so you can expect a perfect trip with your loved one.

2. Bali

Any couple that is visiting the Indonesian island of Bali can expect tropical climate and jungle, promising an adventurous time. With beautiful temples and stunning views over rice fields, jungles and waterfalls, but also fantastic beach bays in the south you will certainly not get bored here and make some amazing impressions with your partners. Of course, the numerous luxury hotels also invite you to relax and enjoy the new bound of life, making Bali one of the best honeymoon destinations in Asia.

3. Thailand

One of the most popular tourist destinations in general, Thailand is especially famous for its honeymoon suitability. With its fantastic beaches and lively cities, honeymooners can look forward to some of the best times of their lives. There are many different seaside resorts in Thailand, such as Phuket or Khao Lak, which are the best locations to spend your honeymoon. The probably most beautiful and sunniest bathing resorts are however during the summer months the areas around Koh Samui. But even if you choose to visit somewhere else in Thailand, you will likely have a great time, especially when your partner is by your side!

4. Vietnam

Spending your honeymoon in Vietnam means going on discovery, taking an adventure and enjoying it with all your senses. With the country’s interesting culture and history, you will even learn something on the way. With both unspoiled nature and vibrant cities, you get the best of two worlds here and the food also speaks for itself – so grab your partner, get a scooter and explore Vietnam as one of the best honeymoon destinations in Asia!

5. Malaysia

With an exciting capital, beautiful beaches, historic cities and high-class luxury resorts, Malaysia has everything you could ask for during your honeymoon. From the vibrant capital Kuala Lumpur, you can easily head to private island paradises in the country with white beaches and blue sea. Since Malaysia is not a typical honeymoon destination, we think it is even more of a good idea to go there since prices are comparably low and you would more feel like having a special honeymoon trip.

6. Philippines

With more than 7000 islands, it can be hard to make a choice where on the Philippines to spend your honeymoon. Good news is, you can do island hopping by boat and see multiple places it! However, you still won’t get to all of them. Different areas of the Philippines are famous for different things, so it is good to check out the best things to do on the Philippines before. Most spots have a beautiful scenery with perfect sea water that makes every diver and snorkeler happy, as well as a tropical atmosphere in which you can just let yourself be caught in your honeymoon dream – thereby, the Philippines are one of the best honeymoon destinations in Asia and we hope you will have a good one with your love!
